Bath Toys
I’m realizing as I’m looking through pictures to post how few pictures we’ve taken since Christmas. That has to change!
We’re not up to too much – we’ve been remodeling our 2 guest rooms in the basement (might try to post about that later) and just spending time at home hanging out. Ryan and I are both training for a half marathon in March and running a bunch. Um… not much else than that. Hence why there hasn’t been posts in 3 weeks!
I did find a really cool bath toy the other day. Jacoby gets excited about getting in the bath – he likes to play with the running water as the bath fills up and he enjoys it after we pull the drain plug out when the water is draining out of the tub. But the part in the middle of the bath – not so exciting. I think he gets bored with his toys and doesn’t know what to do.
However – I found this cool faucet toy at the store the other day that solved our problems keeping him in the bath longer than 5 minutes. I has a button that turns the faucet on and off (buttons are BIG hit in this house) and comes with 3 different cups that fill up with water slightly differently. For the busy little kid, this toy is a HUGE hit.

Christmas 2009
I almost made a New Years resolution to put more posts up this year, but I knew that would be a hard thing to follow through on.
I was very productive before Christmas – getting organized, buying gifts, getting stuff done – but since we got back from Christmas I’ve been lazy lazy lazy. Hence why this post is very overdue.
Christmas was really fun – we had 9 whole days back home and no travel delays in either direction. The first 4 days were spent down in Grafton with my dad, sister and her 2 girls Kassidy (3) and Mackenzie (10 months). Katie was incredibly brave and traveled with both girls herself via airplane from Minneapolis. Phil was busy with exams so he couldn’t join us this year (we missed you Phil!)
Kassidy is energetic, sassy and Jacoby’s little partner in crime. He was obsessed with the elevator in dad’s condo building the whole time we were home – but wasn’t able to reach the buttons or open the door to dad’s condo. However, Kassidy was able to do both. So at any random moment, Kassidy would open the door, Jacoby would run out and they would tear down the hallway to the elevator. We were usually able to catch them before they actually got IN the elevator, but they had fun trying multiple times. There were also MANY trips up and down in the elevator for fun (with an adult)
Mackenzie is super sweet and calm compared to the other two. She would crawl around the unit and sit and watch what was going on.
It’s impossible to get 3 kids to look at you in a bathtub
After Grafton we headed up to Kaukauna for 5 days. Ryan’s brother and sister joined us for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It was so much fun to see the kids together – Jacoby is the youngest at 18-months, Josephine (Joey) is 3 months older (21 months) and Madysen (Mady) a year older than Joey (2 3/4 years). They all interact and are interested in each other. Although – Jacoby being a boy is like a tornado compared to the girls. They would place nicely together while he ran around the house growling and yelling. (Yes, he still likes to growl!) Joey is leap-years ahead of Jacoby on speech too – I swear she’s speaking in full paragraphs and I’m lucky if Jacoby says “banana”. I imagine in a year they will all be chatting together but for now it’s boys vs. girls (chatty & calm vs tornado).
There were loads of presents given by grammy and bumpa (as well as aunts and uncles) – of which the favorites were a drum and a little sesame street cd player.

Blankie
Jacoby is really into his blankie lately. It was made for him by my college friend Amy and we’ve used it since he was born. When he came home from the hospital he didn’t like to be swaddled very much, so we covered him up with this blanket since it had so many holes in it. We never had to worry about him pulling the blanket over his face and suffocating (oh – the worries with a newborn!)
Lately he will run into his bedroom and pull the blanket through the bars of his crib. He’ll then run around the house with it around his neck or hugging it saying “argh!!!” We also know it’s naptime when we find him in the hallway snuggling up to it on the floor.
